Adult CPR and AED

This 3-hour course is based on the latest 2005 American Heart Association cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) guidelines. Students will learn Basic Life Support in the treatment of choking, cardiac emergencies, heart disease and stroke prevention.

Portable Automated External Defibrillator's (AED's) are available to the general public and very simple to use. The AED delivers an electric shock known as 'defibrillation' to the heart.

Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) can strike anyone at any time, including seemingly healthy people without a diagnosed heart condition; the AED restores a normal heartbeat and the flow of oxygen to the brain and other vital organs. Course covers early intervention, CPR, defibrillation techniques, the function of the heart, and what to do after successful use of the AED.
